The East Dulwich Advantage: Why Our Expert-Led GCSE Science Revision Course is the Local Choice for 2026
If you’re a parent in South London watching your teenager navigate the final stretch towards their GCSE Science exams, you’ll know that familiar mix of emotions. There’s the hope that everything will come together, the concern that gaps might still exist, and the quiet question of whether a bit of extra support could make all the difference.
The Easter holidays often represent a turning point. It’s a window of time, free from the usual school timetable, where focused, expert-led revision can genuinely shift a student’s understanding and confidence before the summer exams arrive.
For families in East Dulwich, Dulwich Village, Peckham Rye, Forest Hill, and the surrounding areas, we’ve created something we believe meets that need perfectly: a four-day intensive GCSE Science revision course, taught in-person by three specialist teachers with over 40 years of combined classroom experience.
Here’s why local families are choosing us for Easter 2026.
Why Location Matters More Than You Might Think
When it comes to revision courses, convenience isn’t a luxury, it’s practical.
Our Easter course takes place at Harris Boys Academy in East Dulwich, a well-connected, familiar location for many South London families. For parents juggling work, siblings, and the general logistics of the Easter break, having a high-quality revision course on your doorstep removes one more thing from the mental load.
No long commutes across London. No complicated drop-off arrangements. Just a short journey to a local venue where your child can focus entirely on their science revision.

We’ve found that students arrive more relaxed and ready to learn when they’re not exhausted from travelling. And for parents, there’s peace of mind in knowing exactly where your teenager is spending their day, somewhere local, structured, and purposeful.
The Teaching Team: Experience That Makes a Difference
At the heart of any good revision course is the quality of the teaching. This is where we believe our course truly stands apart.
Our Easter programme is led by Chloe, Ruth, and Kate, three specialist science teachers, all formerly of Alleyn’s School, with over 40 years of combined classroom experience between them.
Each teacher brings deep subject expertise:
- Chloe specialises in Chemistry, with a gift for making abstract concepts feel tangible and logical.
- Ruth leads our Biology sessions, helping students connect the dots between topics that often feel disconnected in textbooks.
- Kate covers Physics, turning intimidating calculations into step-by-step processes that students can genuinely master.
What unites all three is a shared teaching philosophy: we don’t believe in simply drilling past papers until students can regurgitate answers. Instead, we focus on understanding the ‘why’ behind every concept, because that’s what builds the kind of flexible, confident knowledge that performs well under exam pressure.

We’ve seen firsthand how students who understand why a chemical reaction behaves a certain way, or why a physics equation works, are far better equipped to tackle unfamiliar questions. GCSE Science exams increasingly reward this kind of thinking, and it’s exactly what we nurture in our small-group sessions.
Our Approach: Mastery Over Memorisation
There’s a common misconception that effective revision means doing as many past papers as possible. While past papers have their place, they’re only truly useful when a student already has a solid foundation of understanding.
At Success in STEM, we take a different approach.
Our course is designed to bridge knowledge gaps first, ensuring students have a clear grasp of the core concepts across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. From there, we layer in exam technique, teaching students how to decode what examiners are actually asking for, how to structure their answers for maximum marks, and how to manage their time effectively.
This isn’t about cramming. It’s about building genuine confidence through clarity.
We keep our groups small, a maximum of six students per session, so that every student receives individual attention. If someone is struggling with a particular topic, we notice. If someone needs stretching further, we can provide that too. This level of responsiveness simply isn’t possible in larger group settings or online courses.
What the Course Covers
Over the four days, students work through focused content across all three sciences. The course runs from 9:30am to 3:30pm each day, providing a full, structured day of revision without the burnout that can come from longer sessions.
Here’s a snapshot of what’s included:
Biology
- Cell biology and organisation
- Infection and response
- Bioenergetics
- Homeostasis and response
- Inheritance, variation, and evolution
- Ecology
Chemistry
- Atomic structure and the periodic table
- Bonding, structure, and the properties of matter
- Quantitative chemistry
- Chemical changes
- Energy changes
- Organic chemistry
Physics
- Energy and electricity
- Particle model of matter
- Atomic structure
- Forces and motion
- Waves and magnetism

Each session blends clear explanation with guided practice, giving students the chance to apply what they’ve learned in a supportive environment. We also weave in exam strategies throughout, showing students how to approach different question types and avoid common pitfalls.
Who Is This Course For?
This course is designed for GCSE students who want to move from feeling overwhelmed to feeling empowered.
Perhaps your child has been working hard but still feels like certain topics just won’t stick. Perhaps they’re confident in one science but struggling with another. Or perhaps they simply want a structured, focused few days to consolidate everything before the final push.
Whatever the starting point, our course meets students where they are. We don’t expect perfection, we expect effort, curiosity, and a willingness to engage. From there, we do the rest.
We’ve worked with students across the full range of abilities, from those aiming for the very top grades to those who would be delighted with a solid pass. What they all have in common is that they leave our courses feeling clearer, more confident, and better prepared.
